SOLUTION

The base is £50,000. The rate is 6%. The portion is £3,000

Finding the portion. When the base and rate are known, multiply the base by the rate to determine the portion.

Portion = Base X Rate

= £240 X .05

= £12

SOLUTION

Base = Portion / Rate

= 42 / .08

= 525

EXAMPLE

SOLUTION

Rate = Portion / Base

= 134 / 670

= .2

= 20%
