REFLECTION ON THE IT SECTION INSPECTION
So yet another IT section inspection has come and gone, the fourth in little over two years and we are still graded a fourth. This is in spite of the praise given to the teaching, the resources and the support staff. So what is going wrong?
A member of staff at our recent meeting put it clearly when she said "we are not getting the right students on the right courses."
In short, tone-deaf people can never make good symphonic conductors, no matter how dedicated their teachers are.
"Bums on seats" is not the bottom line (forgive the pun) if their effect is to lower the future prospect for our section to get the grade 2 it so clearly deserves.
Let us have the courage to tell a student "this isnt the course for you before the government tells the students "this isnt a college for you."
